SAM & ALEXIA MCAVOY

For over 30 years, I Got Soul Performing Arts has been under the reign and guidance of founders and principals, Alexia and Sam.

They bring to Soul their extensive all-round knowledge of the arts which draws from their own illustrious personal performing careers on the West End Stage (Grease and original cast Saturday Night Fever) and television. Alexia and Sam are recognized for their professionalism within the industry having worked with a wide range of international clients in television, choreography and direction. Between them they have classically trained with worldwide renowned performers from companies such as the Royal Ballet, Bolshoi Moscow, Kirov Ballet and the English National Ballet as well as being influenced by industry heavy hitters Alvin Ailey and Rambert. Their work within the music industry has included worldwide performances, working with producers such as Sketch Is Dead, Driscal, Mario C, Faithless and labels such as Polydor, Universal and Kiss. They continue to run as well as teach at Soul parallel to their own professional work, feeding Soul students the best of the best, hands on, direct training and continue to build huge careers for their students in all areas of the arts.

Throughout the years, the teachers that have worked alongside them have come from within I Got Soul, having the same level of professional work ethic that they have learnt from Alexia and Sam's guidance. To help the students in each area grow, Alexia and Sam are involved in every aspect of Soul including dance, singing and acting as well as working with their excellent teachers in breaking and acro. Alongside running the school, they also oversee the I Got Soul Agency that is a direct link for the students into gaining professional work and experience. Over the years, they have secured work for the students in large scale TV and Film productions as well as dance productions around the world.

Their relationship with the students is one of real empathy, embracing all walks of life, giving everyone a chance to express themselves. They breed a real sense of acceptance and family. The arts for them is just the icing on the cake.

To have walked through Soul at any time in your life and walk out with the gift of lifelong friendships and confidence in whatever you choose to do is their ethos.

“Soul is not just a Performing Arts School, it’s a way of life“
Josh Kay (former student)
